eLEAn will be Europe’s greenest data centre campus. Incorporating 350,000 square feet of data centre in 35 x 10,000 square feet halls, using two-stage absorption cooling, we will be able to reduce energy cost within the data centre by 30% and take at least 40% carbon dioxide equivalents out of normal data centre operations. We will be generating our own power through the use of gas engines. Excess heat from the data centres will be used to provide free heat and hot water to the adjacent village of 450 homes. The site will be Climate Change Levy exempt. The campus will be very well connected by leading fibre suppliers, have back up energy provision from the grid and will be ready for occupation in mid-2010.
