Three Cherry Trees Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 7AH
Sopra Steria have supported BCS Hertfordshire with the use of their public event and meeting room space since 2000. In addition to regular events, Sopra Steria has also hosted committee meetings on the site throughout this period.
The Hemel Hempstead venue is smaller and more intimate, making it perfect for discussions and symposiums. This does mean that places are more limited and as such booking is advised.
The Sopra Steria venue has parking for the disabled and is fully accessible via a ramp situated as part of the front entrance. The fully flexible event space is equipped with an Audio Induction Loop. AWC facilities are available within 15m of the venue.
Hemel Hempstead Station is served from Euston/Milton Keynes. From there take a taxi or H13 bus to Atlas Copco in Queensway near the end of Swallowdale Lane.
From the Plough (“Magic”) Roundabout
Take the A414 (St. Albans Road). At the roundabout signed Industrial Area, turn left on to Maylands Avenue. Follow this road for just short of a mile, past two junctions with traffic lights and one set of pedestrian crossing lights, still in Maylands Avenue, at the first roundabout you come to, turn right (3rd exit) on to Swallowdale Lane. Take 2nd right on to Three Cherry Trees Lane. SOPRA STERIA is the first building on the right.
From M1 Junction 8
Travelling towards Hemel Hempstead on the A414, at the 2nd roundabout turn right (3rd exit) on to Maylands Avenue.
Important information for attendees
Sopra Steria close the car park gates outside office hours.
Should you arrive for an event and find the gates closed, you will have to ask the security staff to open the gate. To do this use the communications box mounted on a pole on the right hand side of the driveway. The box is equipped with a call-button and an intercom. Press the button and tell the security officer that you have come for the “BCS Hertfordshire meeting”.
The Lindop Building, College Lane, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9AB
The University of Hertfordshire’s School of Engineering and Computer Science has supported BCS Hertfordshire events since 2012.
The University kindly allows us access to a range of its facilities, including event spaces, lecture theatres, seminar rooms and computer labs. Depending on the needs of any given event, our location my change, however we generally hold meetings in Lecture Theatre A154 located in the Lindop Building.
The University of Hertfordshire provides fully accessible facilities to us, including parking for the disabled and integrated disabled / mobility limited spaces in lecture theatres. All teaching facilities within the University of Hertfordshire are equipped with audio induction loops. AWC facilities are available within 10m of the A154 venue and are proximal to all of the other venues that we use.
Hatfield Station is served from Kings Cross, Moorgate, Cambridge, and Stevenage. Once at Hatfield station, take a taxi or number 603 bus to the University’s College Lane Campus. Alternatively, the route can be walked in approximately 35 minutes.
Please see the Unobus maps website for more information on travelling to the University by bus.
The roundabout in the map is the roundabout at the A1(M) Junction 3, immediately south of the tunnel under the Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield.
From St. Albans, the easiest route is along the A1057 Hatfield Road, turning right at the Comet roundabout on to Comet Way (see inset map).
From Hemel Hempstead, Watford, the M1 Junctions 6 and 8, M25 Junctions 21A and 22, the best approach is probably along the A414 North Orbital Road (see inset map).
From the A1(M) Junction 3 roundabout take the exit on to the A1001. After about 300 yards, turn left at the traffic lights on to College Lane.
