How is Artificial Intelligence reshaping modern healthcare?
What role do deep learning and data efficiency play in supporting faster, more accurate diagnoses?

Join BCS Hertfordshire for an engaging in-person lecture, where Mr Premkumar, MSc student and our Student Chapter Liaison Officer at the BCS Hertfordshire Branch, will explore how AI is transforming clinical decision-making.

This session will offer valuable insights into the ways in which intelligent technologies are enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and diagnostic capability across healthcare systems. Prem will introduce key machine learning concepts and discuss the practicalities of working with sensitive medical data, while also addressing the performance considerations of AI in a clinical setting.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The application of machine learning to interpret complex medical data
  • The contribution of deep learning to diagnostic innovation
  • Challenges in handling sensitive and high-dimensional healthcare datasets
  • Strategies for improving data efficiency and model robustness
  • The wider implications of integrating AI into healthcare services and infrastructure

Whether you are a student, researcher, healthcare professional, or simply curious about the future of medicine, this talk provides an accessible and thought-provoking overview of AI’s role in shaping the next generation of healthcare technologies.

Premkumar Sampath is a postgraduate student at the University of Hertfordshire, currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Advanced Computer Science. He serves as the Student Chapter Liaison Officer for BCS Hertfordshire, actively supporting academic-industry engagement across the region. His recent work has focused on artificial intelligence applications in healthcare diagnostics, contributing to discussions around the role of machine learning in medical imaging and clinical decision support.
