Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron, is seen by many as the first computer programmer and is an icon for diversity in IT. A new report from BCS shows, for the first time, that women now make up more than 20% of the specialist tech workforce. Whilst this is an incredibly positive improvement it is still not enough considering that women make up 50% of the working age population.

Join Joanna for a light hearted look back at her career in IT and her thoughts on why diversity is so important and what more can and should be done.

Joanna Smith is an experienced international CIO, currently working at Great Ormond Street Hospital and previously in Qatar, the NHS and Pharmaceutical industry.

She is passionate about IT and encouraging young people to make it their career of choice. She is also an avid networker and a firm believer in the “sum of the whole” rather than “the sum of the parts”.
Away from work she enjoys nature and the outdoors as well as eating out and meeting up with friends.
