Visit to the Thames Barrier

In the lower part of the tidal Thames stand a number of moveable gate structures. By far the largest of these is the Thames Barrier together with the Barking Barrier, at the entrance to the old Royal Docks, serve as our defence against tidal ingress. We invite members (Members: Free / Guests: £10), as guests of the Environment Agency Thames Region for a visit to the Thames Barrier to understand its history and examine the construction of this fascinating engineering phenomenon.
