Managing Your Career in a Recession

That the UK may or may not be technically in a recession is not the issue for most people, they are naturally more concerned with their own job security and career development, and the evidence is clear that even for the IT industry, the future has become less certain.

There are, particularly in uncertain times, a number of things that any IT professional can do to improve their job security and career prospects. The meeting presents a panel of speakers comprising Dr Paul Sant, University of Bedfordshire, Ms Karen Alexander, Steria Recruitment, and Roy Shepherd, BCS HQ Professional Development Team, under the chairmanship of Dr Bob Thurlby, BCS Hertfordshire Branch committee. Each will offer practical advice based on their knowledge and experience of IT Management, Recruitment, Human Resources and Professional Development. This will be followed by a Q and A session at which points can be raised and explored in more detail.
