Geraint Williams, Infrastructure Manager, University of Bedfordshire

The use of biometric technology for authentication and identification has become a hot topic since the events of 9/11. The introduction of the Biometric Passport and the proposed introduction of ID cards in the UK have helped bring biometrics to the attention of the general public. This talk will discuss some of the issues of biometric identification, authentication and authorisation and will include a practical demonstration of technologies such as 3D face scanning and vein scanning.

Geraint Williams is the Infrastructure Manager for the Department of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Bedfordshire and also a lecturer in aspects of computer security.
