BCS Hertfordshire Branch is delighted to invite you to our hybrid event, AI Accountability: Governing Risk in an Algorithmic World a timely and practical session for anyone interested in understanding how organisations can govern AI responsibly, manage emerging risks, and build trust in an algorithm-driven world.

Whether you’re an IT professional, risk practitioner, student, leader, or simply curious about the real-world impact of AI, this community-focused event offers valuable insight, shared learning, and the opportunity to connect with others navigating similar challenges.

Join us for an engaging talk with industry expert Bianca Chipanga, followed by optional Q&A and informal discussion. In-person attendees are warmly invited to arrive early for light refreshments and networking with fellow members and guests.

Synopsis

AI is no longer just a technological experiment — it’s embedded in everyday business decisions, from credit scoring to fraud detection. In this talk, Bianca will unpack the emerging GRC challenges of AI accountability, exploring how organisations can manage risk when algorithms make decisions with real-world consequences.

We’ll explore:

  • Why AI governance is now urgent, not optional, as adoption often outpaces oversight
  • Practical ways for professionals at all career stages to understand, mitigate, and communicate AI-related risk
  • The shift from asking “Did we comply?” to “Can we survive disruption?” in a digital and AI-driven risk landscape

Attendees will leave with clearer understanding, actionable ideas, and greater confidence to contribute to responsible AI adoption within their organisations.
